What type of cinnamon do you use? Is it unsafe for my pet?Updated 2 months ago
We only use cinnamon that is safe and appropriate for dogs in our recipes. Specifically, we use Ceylon or true cinnamon in our Bison Gently Cooked food. This type is very different from Cassia cinnamon (the cheaper, more common variety), which can contain higher levels of coumarin that aren’t ideal for dogs.
Ceylon cinnamon has been shown to be safe for dogs when used in appropriate amounts, and it can even provide supportive benefits for digestion and blood sugar balance. We take care to use only pet-appropriate levels and ingredients across all our gently cooked foods.
We do not use cinnamon in our cat recipes or any of our canned dog or cat recipes.
Your pet’s health and safety always come first, which is why every spice, herb, or seasoning we include is carefully selected with veterinary nutrition standards in mind.
