Allergies in PetsUpdated 7 months ago

Allergies only occur in response to proteins. If your pet has never had a protein before, say for example, rabbit, you won't know if she is allergic or not because her antibodies would have never been able to recognize the specific antigen which is required for an allergy. An elimination diet, which our product line is great for with all our different recipes, can help identify specific protein allergens.

In the same manner, a dog or cat that has never had chicken, for example, cannot be allergic to chicken because we do not know what the antibody/antigen response would be. This is why pet owners with allergy concerns often seek out a diet with high quality proteins which are limited ingredient with proteins the pet has never had before, which are lower in protein or proteins for which we know the pet isn't allergic because they have had the protein before.

Additionally, not all proteins are created equally. There is something like 48 grades of chicken for example. Many pet food companies use the lowest grade possible to cut costs. On the other hand, at identity, we only use the highest quality proteins. This is why our diets are a little more expensive but it is also why we have several pets who are allergic to chicken, for example, doing well on our chicken recipe. Not all proteins are created equal.

Our diets only use high quality protein ingredients. We also DO NOT have any fillers or preservatives. Canning is a natural preservation process. We also do not contain any of the common allergens in dogs or cats including corn, wheat, soy, grains, peas or legumes.

We certainly understand how big of a decision it can be to switch your pets food. When our primary owner began formulating our diets, his biggest concern was eliminating allergic responses in pets. His dog is very sensitive to many different ingredients & so that is why our diets are formulated as they are to be high quality meat, poultry or fish, limited ingredient/single protein and only using ingredients for which there is scientific research shows us pets cannot be allergic too.
